WHAT IS A REMOVABLE FULL DENTURE?

A removable full denture is a dental prosthesis designed to replace multiple missing teeth, an entire arch of teeth, and the surrounding gum tissues.

This treatment helps restore chewing function and facial aesthetics, while allowing patients to easily remove the denture for daily cleaning and oral hygiene.

WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF A REMOVABLE DENTURE?

A removable denture generally consists of two main components:

  • Denture base: The supporting base may be made of acrylic resin to simulate the gums, or it may include a removable metal framework made from dental alloy.
  • Artificial teeth: The replacement teeth are typically made from acrylic resin or porcelain, depending on the type of denture and the patient’s treatment needs.

WHEN DO YOU NEED FULL-ARCH TOOTH RESTORATION?
For various reasons, you may lose several teeth or even an entire arch. Missing teeth can affect not only your appearance and confidence when speaking or smiling, but also your ability to chew and enjoy food comfortably. If you need to replace multiple missing teeth or a full arch but prefer an option that does not require tooth preparation or dental implant surgery, Tan Dinh Dental may recommend removable dentures. This is a commonly used solution for restoring several missing teeth or an entire dental arch, helping improve both chewing function and aesthetics.

01
Consultation, examination, and X-rays
The dentist performs a comprehensive oral examination to assess the condition of your teeth, gums, and missing-tooth areas. X-rays may be taken to evaluate the jawbone and surrounding structures before planning the next steps.
02
Oral cleaning and disinfection
The oral cavity is carefully cleaned and disinfected to help create a hygienic environment before taking impressions and fitting the removable denture.
03
Dental impressions, try-in, and denture fabrication
Impressions and measurements are taken to record the shape of the dental arch and the areas requiring restoration. After approximately 1–2 days, a try-in may be performed to assess fit, appearance, bite, and chewing function. The information is then sent to the dental laboratory to fabricate a customized removable denture for the patient.
04
Denture fitting and aftercare instructions
Once the denture is completed, the dentist fits it into position and makes any necessary adjustments to improve comfort, stability, appearance, and function. You will also receive detailed instructions on how to wear, clean, and care for your denture properly.
